Local author Fernando Quijano has agreed to speak at the Maryland Writers’ Association – Annapolis Chapter meeting on Wednesday July 18, 2012. The speaker is has just finished his term as vice-president of the MWA. His work has been featured in “Welter,” “Smile Hon, You’re in Baltimore” and the poetry anthology, “Life in Me Like Grass on Fire.” He uses twitter, facebook and blogs (as “thewordpimp”) to communicate his appearances and is a columnist for theurbantwist.com. Fernando was recently awarded a B grant for his writing by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund. He will speak on his life and success as a writer using social media. The meeting is open to the public and free to MWA members and first-time guests. All others may pay $5.00. Annual dues to MWA are $40.00 and include other benefits on top of monthly attendance.
